A little about me... or "what makes me click".
I’m a graphic designer by profession, but over recent years, I’ve developed an interest in photography as well. And the passion has grown even more, in the last three years.
Thanks to the nature of my (graphic design) work, it's been easy to position myself in situations where I can learn “by doing”. I've also cultivated a few key relationships within the photography community. Thank goodness they have been willing to help me along the way! One even handed over his used text books, complete with his class notes and page scribbles. Like I said, I'm learning, at my own pace, and I'm enjoying every minute of it.
So far, my favorite photo subject is nature, and my immediate surroundings. As a “work in progress” photographer, I spend much of my free time documenting historic New Bern (where I live), and out on North Carolina's Outer Banks, capturing seascapes, nautical stuff, nature, and of course those awesome sunsets! In the fall, I like to do photo-walks up in the Blue Ridge Mountains, in the western part of our state. When it comes to photo subjects, North Carolina has much to offer! It's a beautiful place to shoot, and live! I highly recommend it.
Lately, I've been getting into HDR processing. It's a unique blend of art and science -- two of my favorite things. As a newbie, processing an image in this way can be quite a challenge, but then I feel a sense of artistic pride when I actually pull one off! I'm sure I have a long way to go, before I can begin to compare to the more experienced talent that seems to surround me. In any event, I've just added a few of my HDR attempts to the photo gallery. Check them out!
Thanks for taking the time to read about me, and my photography. If you are interested in buying, I have a few select prints, which are available in various sizes. Prints for Sale.
